The X&Y racks are designed to be used without a component shelf. However, platform using is often justified and necessary. We have tested many materials and offer 40mm birch plywood shelves with an acoustically transparent geometry. Sandwich construction has a high vibration absorption capacity - passing through many layers of veneer, the vibrations are converted into heat. The synergy between the layered platform and the heavy, filled rack creates a truly magical result, closer to the original sound that was recorded in the studio.
